Who sets the season

Red snapper seasons are set by regulators, not by charter captains. Federal regulators manage federal waters, and Texas sets the rules for its own state waters.

Season dates, bag limits and size limits can change from year to year, and they can be adjusted once a season is underway. That’s why we don’t carry last year’s dates forward.

This season’s dates

  • Federal-water red snapper trips: contact us for current season dates and availability on Instagator and Wave Dancer 2.
  • State-water trips: contact us for current trip availability on Wave Warrior and Pole Dancer and which species may be kept.
  • Greater amberjack: ask us about current season dates and available trips.

Please confirm current season dates with us before booking.

Red Snapper Deep Sea

Our Red Snapper Deep Sea trip is a 10-hour offshore day on Instagator or Wave Dancer 2, the two biggest boats in the fleet. Red snapper hold around reefs, rigs and other offshore structure, and the bigger boats have the range to reach it.

Plan ahead

  • Season days can be limited, so book once the dates are announced.
  • Bring a big cooler and ice for your fillets.
  • Snapper closed on your dates? Ask us about our other offshore trips.
  • Every trip follows the current federal and Texas regulations.
