Wave Dancer Charters (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates wavedancercharters.com and runs fishing charters out of Galveston, Texas. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, book a trip, or sign up for our emails, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you book a trip, buy a gift certificate or merchandise, fill out a contact form, or join our email list, we collect what you enter: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address when something has to be shipped, the number of people in your party, and any notes you leave for the captain. Payments for trips and gift certificates are processed by Acuity Scheduling (a Squarespace company) and its payment processors; merchandise payments are processed by Square or PayPal. We do not see or store your full card number.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use cookies and similar tools to understand how the site is used. We use Google Analytics and Google Ads tags to measure visits, phone-number clicks, form submissions and bookings, and to show our ads to people who have visited the site. Our email provider, Omnisend, sets a cookie so that when you sign up for our emails or click a link in one, we can tell which pages you visited. These tools collect things like your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you viewed and how you got to the site.
How we use it
We use your information to run your trip (confirmations, reminders, weather calls and reschedules), to answer your questions, to ship merchandise, to send you fishing reports, open dates and trip specials if you asked for them, to ask how your trip went, to improve the website, and to keep our advertising honest by measuring what works. We do not sell your personal information.
Emails and text messages
Booking confirmations and reminders are sent to everyone who books. Marketing emails (fishing reports, open dates and specials) go only to people who signed up for them, and every one has an unsubscribe link. If you give us your mobile number and tick the text-message box, we may text you about last-minute openings and weather updates; message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to opt out or HELP for help. Consent to texts is never a condition of booking.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the companies that help us run the business: Acuity Scheduling (bookings and payments), Square and PayPal (merchandise payments), Omnisend (email and text messages), Google (analytics and advertising), and our web hosting provider. Each of them is only allowed to use your information to provide their service to us. We will also share information when the law requires it or to protect the safety of our crew and customers.
Cookies and your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, but some measurement will stop. You can opt out of Google’s personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com and install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. To stop marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email or contact us. To stop texts, reply STOP.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and purchase records for as long as we need them for tax and accounting purposes. Email and text subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept according to Google’s retention settings for our account.
Children
Kids are welcome on our trips, but our website and email list are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (we may have to keep records the law requires us to keep). Contact us using the details below and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top.
