Deposit, weather and cancellations

Customers will receive a deposit credit with 14 days advance notice of cancellation. Customers will receive a deposit refund or re-schedule credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price. Trip price subject to change up or down due to fuel prices. Balance paid with card will be charged an additional 3%. Customary tip for captain/crew is 20%-25%.

Red snapper are the reason a lot of anglers come to Galveston, and this is the trip built around them. Ten hours gives your captain the range to reach deeper offshore structure and fish it right.

Expect a day of bottom fishing with heavy tackle and heavy fish. Depending on season and regulations, the mix can include red snapper, vermilion snapper, amberjack, grouper and triggerfish, with a shot at king mackerel along the way.

This one runs on the big boats only: Instagator, the 38-foot Blackfin with Capt Taylor Borel, or Wave Dancer 2, the 46-foot Bertram with Capt Greg Ball. Snapper season dates change from year to year, so check the booking calendar or our Snapper Season page for current trips.

Why does this trip run only on Instagator and Wave Dancer 2?

This trip goes past 9 miles into federal water, and charter boats fishing there must carry federal permits. Instagator and Wave Dancer 2 are our federally permitted sportfishing yachts, and they carry the gear for the run: an EPIRB, a life raft, Starlink Wi-Fi, Doppler radar, XM weather and high-powered sonar that finds the fish faster.

Red snapper trips are seasonal. Call us to confirm the current season, trip dates and availability before booking.

Why only two boats?

This long offshore run is offered on Instagator and Wave Dancer 2, the two largest boats in our fleet.

How do deposits and cancellations work?
