About Black Drum

Black drums are monstrous, challenging fish that will get your heart rate up! It’s no wonder why people love reeling in these beasts. Along with the fun of catching them, you can enjoy the delicious, flaky white meat of black drums by baking, frying, or grilling them to perfection.

Along with black drum fish, you can look forward to catching these other fantastic fish in the winter:

  • Redfish
  • Trout
  • Wahoo
  • Flounder
  • Sheepshead

Our crew knows all of the best spots to catch fun, delicious fish for people of all ages and experience levels.

Lots to Do in Galveston This February!

Galveston is not only home to lots of fun activities year-round—we are also host to the third largest Mardi Gras in the US for 2 weeks (from February 6-17). The celebration started all the way back in 1867, and is 115 years old this year! You’ll definitely want to come during Mardi Gras season to enjoy the live music, parades, and delicious seafood.

Along with Mardi Gras, there are lots of fantastic, year-round activities to enjoy in Galveston.

Make sure you visit the beautiful beaches in Galveston and check out Moody Gardens to enjoy their rope courses, aquarium, IMAX theater, and more. You’ll also want to visit the amazing restaurants in the area, which include Katie’s Seafood House, Vargas Cut and Catch, Black Pearl Oyster Bar, and Miller’s Seawall Grill.

Wave Dancer Charters can also provide a “Catch and Cook” experience, where we clean the fillets for you after you catch them, and you then take your fish to a nearby restaurant for them to prepare it for you!

For something unique, check out the Galveston Seawall. It holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest uninterrupted concrete walkway (sidewalk) at 10.3 miles (16.58 km). Certified on September 6, 2025, to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the 1900 Storm, this massive coastal defense structure features a continuous pedestrian path, surpassing the previous record holder, Tampa’s Bayshore Boulevard.

You are going to have a blast here in Galveston, Texas!
